our clients have so much in common. they have beautiful homes filled with meaningful things. they have great taste and serious style. they just need us to pull everything together. we rethink, rearrange, repurpose, recycle, redesign. your home is our canvas, your things are our medium, the result is our art... your things, redesigned... and a few fun new things... this redesign is pup approved... xo.. CBL by christina britt lewis photography by angela statzer ohmygoodness, this was a fun redesign! our client has serious style and fine taste. she had already found some fabulous things for her master bedroom. she was just stuck with dressers and finishing things. so here is the very pretty before... and after... the trunk at the end of the bed is hers. every room needs something old and full of memories. the dresser is new and feels all pottery barn for a whole lot less. 'cause that's how we do. we love how it connects with the warm wood of the trunk and contrasts with her pretty night stands. the buck head looks so cool filled with curly willow or branches from your back yard, but for christmas, we loved tree trimmings. and as tim always says...everyone needs a nice buck in the bedroom. follow us on instagram for behind the scenes photos from every redesign that don't usually make the blog... every bedroom needs candle light... before... and after... we love everything about angie moses' book "flying home"...even how the cover art matches the room. we love how cream "ritva" panels finish a room too. i have them in my own home. affordable and elegant. before... and after... we love that they were cool getting the tv out of the bedroom. we love how confused the delivery guys were that the dressers didn't match. we love when dressers don't match. we love how warm and cozy their art looks over the dresser. we love lots of candle light in a bedroom. we love poufs for putting your feet up while you read a good book by natural light. we love little nods to christmas with free tree trimmings. these are a few of our favorite things... she wanted a vanity for the bedroom, but we knew this would be perfect there. it's a little small for this space, but perfect for the bedroom. don't be afraid to rethink and reuse what you already have. this space will look better as a seating area. but for now... i moved yet another christmas tree. it's what i do... so this is where we found the beautiful old trunk... and this is also where we repurposed the desk from the family room. i mean, c'mon... how gorgeous is that?? remember that old tv? well, we put this here instead... hehehe... how sexy is that? yeah, that's a vacuum in the mirror. 'cause there's nothing sexy about a dirty floor. by christina britt lewis photography by angela statzer today was so much fun! when we met this lovely client she had already ordered some beautiful new furniture for the room below. she and her man have fine taste and serious style. they just wanted us to make the most of what they already have and add a few finishing things, and they graciously agreed to wait until the new year as we are so up to our eyeballs decking everybody's halls right now it's not even funny. but THEN! their furniture arrived and after a night of rearranging, they didn't love it. so she asked if there was any way we could come make it work. we had just rescheduled today's installation due to a delivery delay and had the whole day free. it was a little christmas miracle... before... when we met for our initial consultation, they had sample boards for a new rug for this room. but you know me. i spied a rug in the gathering room that i fell hard for and recommended they try switching them. so another before... and after... how fabulous is that rug? makes me all weak in the knees. wait till you see how great the gathering room looks with all of the things they already have! another before... those are boats out the window. given the gorgeous lake view, the sofa just must face the window. it just must. angela and kelly stole this table from a bedroom. when a lamp is a little small scale for the space, give it some oomph with a stack of books... we love this bench, but it felt lost and lonely in the window... we had a feeling it belonged here.... don't ya think? the gathering room before and the rug samples that they no longer need... and after... best part? we did not buy a thing. this is my favorite thing to do in the whole wide world. when people ask us to come redesign with what they already have, they give me a gift. so today... merry christmas to me! and to all a good night. there is no passion to be found in playing small -
in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living. - nelson mandela by christina britt lewis we deck a whole lot of halls. so i don't have a whole lot of energy left over to deck my own. it has to be real, it has to be easy, and it has to be awesome. we go to cedar lake christmas tree farm every year to find the perfect tree. they have a huge pile of trimmings that are free for all. (lowes does too, but c'mon... shop small) you need more than you think. and they are happy to see you haul them away, so don't be shy. all you need are some clippers, but i have used scissors before. cut off any big branchiness, although you can totally just shove that all in the pot, i just thought it would be more pinteresty to have steps. so shove or cut, it's up to you. i did not mean to be inappropriate with my middle finger below. i probably should have had camden take another photo but i was cold and on my front porch in pj's and boots when people were out walking their dogs. so... just shove all of the branches in pots you already have. remove the dead ferns first. ahem... just keep shoving. just keep shoving. what do we do? we shove, shove, shove... before... and after... the tiny twig is vlogging this week about how to make your own wreath and bows. she's completely fabulous. follow and watch. but after redesigning 15 or so rooms in 10 or so days just before thanksgiving, i chose easy this year and bought a wreath at the tree farm. our family also chose to skip presents and run away to tropical islands with people we love this year. but more about that later. we're dreaming of a warm christmas... |
