gosh, we LOVE these people! their 2 front rooms are his and hers, with a great big family room off the kitchen. how fun is that? his is already fabulous, but hers needed to feel a little more like... her. so we redesigned with these fabulous chairs she already had, an old table we found in the guest room, and a few fun new things that feel as funky and fabulous as she is... a woman has got to have a place to put her feet up. and her collection of shells and books bring back happy memories... kelly can take the most random assortment of things and make them come together like a masterpiece. she makes me go "wow" every freakin' time. not only did angela assemble bookshelves like a boss, she also made the mantle look all clean and simple and happy and then she took photos of everything that capture it all so well... we found this charming old tray in a cabinet. i love it when that happens. they say if you want to be successful, hire people who are more talented than you are.
they are right. our people are the reason we are redesigning all over the country and a few times a week in charlotte. our people are the reason tim and i have time to write a snarky and irreverent book about marriage. our people are the reason our home is all over the cover and pages of lake norman magazine this month. our people are the reason. if you want to make your dreams come true, surround yourself with people you believe in and people who believe in you. sometimes an invitation to coffee is an invitation to everything you ever wanted. xo... christina for all of our people comfy cozy family room for long talks, good movies, and fort building? sure thing. keep the big blue sofa and use what you have to make it warm and welcoming? got it. a few new things that help you love the old things all over again? we do that... her happy words... Where do I even start? (We) are blown away by how magnificent our home is! My uncle’s response after a FaceTime tour was, “You are grown-ups now!” I hope you know that I am very sincere when I say that your work went beyond our expectations and into a dream... I admit that I got nervous during the process because I didn’t know what was going on. I have a high need for information (about everything in life!) so just letting the creative process happen and you work on your surprises was a little uncomfortable for me at times. I realized that you are creative and I am not and this is exactly why we hired you. When I got anxious, I repeated this mantra and let it go. Boy, am I ever glad I did! ... I want you to know we recognize your talent and your gift and all I can think about now is going home! I got up early this morning to sit in the family room while it was quiet. (My husband) just texted me he is breaking in the new leather chair (LOVE!). (Our daughter) is all over the place and when she picks up the beautiful Button Bird Designs owl she says, “Hoot Hoot Hoot,” only it sounds like “Who, Who, Who.” ...Thanks again for being your fabulously wonderful selves and bringing a whole new style to our lives. You are truly the best! *blush* my very favorite part of her oh so sweet words was when she talked about being nervous. we are ridiculously grateful for all of our fabulous clients who give us so much creative freedom. we feel fortunate to get to help people love coming home for a living and even more fortunate to get to know the people who pick us. your home is the most important place in the whole wide world. putting it in the hands of another is going to make you nervous. but the ones who do are the ones who change the world... what can you do to promote world peace?
GO HOME and love your family. - mother teresa xo... christina for all by christina britt lewis photography by angela statzer we are BACK! we tend to take a ton of time off after decking all the halls. people think i have been unavailable because i've been busy book writing. yeah, notsomuch. letting people think that is easier than finding words to explain my need for nothingness. in his brilliant book essentialism: the disciplined pursuit of less, greg mckeown found the words... everything changes when we give ourselves permission to be more selective in what we choose to do. at once, we hold the key to unlock the next level of achievement in our lives. there is tremendous freedom in learning that we can eliminate the nonessentials, that we are no longer controlled by other people's agendas, and that we get to choose. with that invincible power we can discover our highest point of contribution, not just to our lives or careers, but to the world... so we are back! and more resolved than ever to help people see the beauty in what they already have... the pool table had become a notsobeautiful catch all since their little one came along. time to turn this into a happy reading room to spend time listening, pondering, meditating, and enjoying time with a most important person... a few fresh things that kelly found and a button bird designs owl handmade by angela breathe new life into the comfy old loveseat they already had... her grandmother's chair looked dated and small in the bedroom where we found it, but in the new reading room it suddenly feels all anthropologie... we found curious george up in a closet AFTER we had decided on yellow for the room. i LOVE it when that happens! people don't think they have great stuff, but they do. you do. you totally do. the play room and the family room we stole the loveseat from coming soon! oh and about 20 more redesigns too. i'm a bit behind on blogging due to all of the nothingness i have been doing. and i'm not sorry. BIG LOVE to myquillyn for recommending and angela for buying the book that made me not sorry. xo... christina for all |
