by christina britt lewis photography by angela statzer today was so much fun! when we met this lovely client she had already ordered some beautiful new furniture for the room below. she and her man have fine taste and serious style. they just wanted us to make the most of what they already have and add a few finishing things, and they graciously agreed to wait until the new year as we are so up to our eyeballs decking everybody's halls right now it's not even funny. but THEN! their furniture arrived and after a night of rearranging, they didn't love it. so she asked if there was any way we could come make it work. we had just rescheduled today's installation due to a delivery delay and had the whole day free. it was a little christmas miracle... before... when we met for our initial consultation, they had sample boards for a new rug for this room. but you know me. i spied a rug in the gathering room that i fell hard for and recommended they try switching them. so another before... and after... how fabulous is that rug? makes me all weak in the knees. wait till you see how great the gathering room looks with all of the things they already have! another before... those are boats out the window. given the gorgeous lake view, the sofa just must face the window. it just must. angela and kelly stole this table from a bedroom. when a lamp is a little small scale for the space, give it some oomph with a stack of books... we love this bench, but it felt lost and lonely in the window... we had a feeling it belonged here.... don't ya think? the gathering room before and the rug samples that they no longer need... and after... best part? we did not buy a thing. this is my favorite thing to do in the whole wide world. when people ask us to come redesign with what they already have, they give me a gift. so today... merry christmas to me! and to all a good night. there is no passion to be found in playing small -
in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living. - nelson mandela Comments are closed.
