by christina britt lewis | photography by angela statzer these are people who think long and hard before making a decision. they only buy what they love and they keep things for a very long time. so when they asked me what color their new sofa should be, i hesitated to say "NAVY BLUE!". i showed them some nice, safe neutrals similar to their old sofa below, that i knew would look great for many years and we could breathe some life into with pretty pillows... we work hard to get our own personal opinions out of the way so that we can really listen and focus on YOUR own personal opinions. our job is to give you a home YOU love. it makes no difference to us if the sofa is beige or blue, we only care that YOU love coming home. but then...hehehe...she asked something like "yeah, but what would YOU do? what do YOU love?"... BIG love to my old friends at the cococo for making this GORGEOUS, sexy, luxurious, comfortable, to-die-for chesterfield. does it look familiar? they are the best of the best. and BIG props to these brave people for choosing something so FUN and FABULOUS! we hope you LOVE your new sexy sofa for many years to come. we hope you love the gorgeous rug you already have all over again and keep it forever... BIG LOVE to kim at homegoods in huntersville too. when i realized that i didn't love the end tables i had gotten, i left things in the capable hands of my people and made an emergency run to homegoods. and...um...chick-fil-a. kim asked me what i was hunting for, as she always does. told her i needed two matching end tables. like now. and there were none on the floor. so she runs to the back room and comes back with a table leg. she said "i've got two that look like this. do you like this?" i said "that's the prettiest table leg i ever did see." or something. she said, "ok, i'll be a few minutes. i have to build them." and GIRL BUILT ME SOME END TABLES! look how perfect they are with these gorgeous lamps they already have, but have never found a great place for... while i was getting tables and chicken and waffle fries...i mean...salad. i was getting salad. angela and kelly did THIS... these bookshelves already looked pretty good, so i was PSYCHED OUT OF MY MIND that they made them look SOOO much better! everything is art. you know? everything, if you choose to see it that way. uncle bill moved this big beautiful mirror to over the sofa so that it now reflects natural light, trees, and life instead of the ceiling fan. mirrors will double your view and act like a window if you make them. that's art too, i suppose. MORE BIG LOVE to kat at lowes who helped me realize that a real, beautiful fern would add more life and happiness and SPRING to the fireplace than the grate and wood i had gone in to get. she kept me in budget too! we are so ridiculously grateful for all of the people who help us do what we do. pottery they love and have collected over the years... they have this pretty built-in window seat that was calling out for something interesting. the strip of wall was too high up and too narrow for art, really. so... pretty plates we collected from here and there... kelly came up with this clever way to hang them so that they overlap each other. she's brilliant like that... ....some photos do not require explanation. our client's happy words...
I'm really blown away. There is a crazy mixture of thought.! Like "what were we thinking before? Why didn't we do something sooner? What a great scavenger she is! This looks amazing!" Love the bookcases, Love the plates over the window, Love the mirror moved and totally love the trees over the mantel. Love the wire basket (would never have thought that would work and it looks great)! My pottery looks great and the two small pieces that you got from the kitchen that are in the ottoman basket....the kids made those when they were little so it brings something very personal into the room...We are more pleased than we could have hoped for so thank you and your team very very much. 10 years ago, we decided to start over and do what we love for a living. every day since, tim and i are grateful for the people who make it possible for us to do our thing. without YOU, we are just dreamers. YOU are the ones who make dreams come true. YOU are the gift givers. we are ridiculously grateful. by christina britt lewis | photography by angela statzer where there is a will, there is a way... they made us homemade peanut butter cookies. i mean, seriously. c'mon. who does that? i loved these people before they made us cookies. they travel all over the world and collect meaningful things and read really good books. we got to redesign a few other rooms for them many years ago and were psyched to come back to make this front room into a place they want to be. they were in africa not too long ago so we chose a few favorite photos to enlarge onto canvas as art for the room... they already had and love that big leather chair and ottoman so we got a second chair to create a his and hers reading room. we love those modern lamps, but they really wanted something warmer and cozier. less stark. so we are switching them out for more substantial wood lamps with warm, burlap shades. we totally mean it when we say "if you don't love it, you don't keep it." it almost never happens, so we were kind of psyched to finally get to practice what we preach. the thing with design is, there really is no right or wrong. these lamps work and the new lamps will work. it's how the room feels to YOU that matters. it's what YOU love that matters. if we ever get THAT wrong, just say so, we will totally make it right! books made from their photos. this is so fabulous i can hardly stand it. totally going to do this... their gorgeous gate leg table. their home sits on top of a hill and drops off very quickly in the back. it feels for all the world like a tree house. tim and i are dreaming about building a tree house village of sorts where couples can come for weekends away to rediscover the beauty of what they already have. and um... have a blast and eat good food. there may be a zip line involved. there is nothing boring about the way tim helps people love better. so when i look out the windows above, i see our dream coming true. it's also a great spot to eat cookies and solve puzzles. hehehe... this beautiful elephant is one of their photos too. can you imagine? it was our inspiration for the room... we had so much fun on this project. beautiful home, beautiful people, and beautiful weather! our first 80 degree day in SIX MONTHS! felt like heaven on earth. uncle bill was so happy he even posed for a feet shot! i don't think he even rolled his eyes! it was a beautiful day.
