by christina britt lewis and angela statzer super easy way to hide cords. you probably already have a basket you can use. whenever we redesign a kitchen we find a basket and turn it into a charging station for the kitchen counter. looks all neat and tidy. we got a couple of baskets at target for the screeny things in the play room we redesigned the other day... make a little opening at the bottom of the basket to feed the charger thingy through... a place for everything and everything in its place... ta da... this post brought to you by our brilliant project manager, angela statzer. her ideas are fresh and fun. when she says "blog that", i blog that. her photos are like christmas morning to me. i get psyched about what we do all over again when i see it all through her eyes. peace, christina by christina britt lewis photography by angela statzer we love ribba frames from ikea. the big square ones look way pricier than their $20ish price tag... when we meet with a client for the first time we ask all sorts of questions that help us get to know them. sometimes it takes some investigating to know what they are going to love. other times it's very clear right away. we want your home to feel collected. not decorated. this family is a football family. big time. football makes them happy. we didn't want their family room to feel themey or bonus roomy though. we wanted it to feel sophisticated and casual, beautiful and fun, all at the same time. so we found a book with some vintage, black and white, footballish photos and tore out our favorite pages... the mats that come with ribba frames are bigger than we usually need them to be. so we have mats cut to fit whatever we find to frame. having mats cut is super affordable, these came to under $10 per mat. kelly lies is not just a brilliant interior designer and our newest status quo antagonist... she is also a master hacker with cute pink tools... new mats we had cut to the size of the book pages... ta da... the finished framed photos came to less than $35 each. we hung them in two columns on either side of a french door. they feel important but most importantly, the family LOVES them. if YOU love them, you might love this too (click here). more about that sofa, that lamp, and the whole redesigned room soon. peace, christina our challenge: turn this into a fun and happy family office at a nice price. angela is a collector of fabulousness. along with coffee, lunch, a good camera, and mad skills...she brought these finds to use if they worked in the room...one of a kind pieces that make a house a home that has a very collected over time feel. she made the sweet owls herself and they were simply a gift for the client's two little girls. they are angela's signature thing. lucky little girls. and then she assembled this chair. i'm not even kidding... and she recommended we tell you this fancy designer trick. ready? step #1 buy ikea frames... step #2 fill them with maps, old sheet music, sweet cards, book pages, kids artwork, what have you... step #3 hang on the wall... we used this page too, in a smaller frame, perfect color, super affordable, not what your neighbor has... getting there... ta da... hydrangea's from the back yard, mason jars from angela's collection, pencils from a drawer, GREAT lamp that they already had, duck pillow from angela's collection and because the client is fond of all things ducky, one of a kind funky blue "book ends" hand painted by angela... all of these sweet details finish the room in a very affordable and unique way. we never want to give you page 42 from pottery barn (not that there's anything wrong with that). we always want to make your home feel like YOU and YOURS and NOT the jones's (psst...the jones's are not actually happy). we work hard to listen to YOUR hopes and dreams and help you live all up and in them. at a nice price. more before and afters soon. |
