keeping up with the joneses and climbing ladders used to be our thing. until one day it dawned on us that the joneses were not actually happy. so we sold everything, jumped off the ladder, and headed down south to the land of the pines. wagon wheel is our own personal anthem and i cry happy tears every time i sing... if i die in charlotte, at least i will die free. now we live in a little house with a detached garage in north carolina. we sold our big house in new hampshire ten years ago. on purpose. so that we could afford to start over and do what we love for a living. a choice we never regret. being house poor is stressful. we know because we were. our little house is our happy place. also, we totally hate yard work and our attempts at gardening are complete fiascos. i would love to be people who garden and pick fresh veggies still warm from the carolina sunshine for dinner. we are not those people. but we are people who pick up fresh veggies from the farmer's market and make homemade pad thai for a candlelit dinner on the deck with a few friends on a tueday. we found peace when we accepted who we are and chose to live all up and in it. so what makes YOU cry happy tears? frederick buechner said... whenever you find tears in your eyes, especially unexpected tears, it is well to pay the closest attention. they are not only telling you something about the secret of who you are, but more often than not God is speaking to you through them of the mystery of where you have come from and is summoning you to where, if your soul is to be saved, you should go to next. so really, what makes you cry happy tears? sometimes we forget... life is a choice. for cory... peace is stretching out on our little living room floor after too much pad thai on the deck. true story. this is one day of a 31 day series about living in a peaceful home. click here to read the rest of the series. peace be with you, tim christina cole camden george Comments are closed.
