cole is the happiest person we know. he always has been. he makes everything more fun. so when his summer job as a raft guide at the U.S. National Whitewater Center was sadly delayed, he found an opportunity to try something new. trying new things seems to be a thing that happy people do. tim and i expect cole and camden to help out with "the family business" same way we expect them to help out with "the family dishes" and "the family laundry" but cole wanted to do more than help out, he wanted to be our photographer... before... after... while he captures redesigns like a boss, he loves guiding people down rapids more and is psyched rafting will reopen at the USNWC soon. he laughs at how he ended up at UNCC allowing him to be a student and a photographer and a raft guide at the same time. so we watch and learn from our son who lives like every little thing is gonna be alright... what might we be really good at if we just tried? what would we do if we could start over? what is stopping us? what is stopping you? money is probably the most common answer. but tim and i have both been fired enough times to know we always end up better for it. we have started over because we chose to and we have started over because we had to. sometimes a terrible thing can be the best thing that ever happens to us. because we get so comfortable with the way things are even when they are bad. we stay at jobs we hate and with people we hate because starting over seems harder. or maybe we tell ourselves we are making the best of a bad situation. maybe we tell ourselves we can make change from within. we always admire the ones who fight the powers that be and change things from within a system. strong people stay. strong people go. only you can decide how you are strongest. but we can't help but notice that happy people are not afraid to try new things. perhaps peaceful people are the strongest of us all. Eric Roth wrote... For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again. still learning. xo... tim and christina Comments are closed.
